This series of bespoke bottle designs were inspired by the Catholic church and its dark past. The French Inquisition has its origins in the early organized persecution of non-Catholic Christian religions in Europe. In 1184 Pope Lucius III sent bishops to southern France to track down heretics called Catharists. These efforts continued into the 14th Century. The Elixir de Vie high-tier bottle and box tell this story in a more refined light. The custom bottle and box, rendered in 3D modeling software, is reminiscent of the gothic cathedrals of the era. The gold ornament stands as a testament to the horrible acts of the Church. (2020)

This mid-tier bottle and box play off the same story of the French Inquisition. This bottle displays ornate borders and typography. The bottle is decorated with embossments of a stained glass facade that has been inverted. This bottle also shows the inverted cross as well as the crossed keys, a symbol of the Papacy. This series of bespoke bottle designs are meant to challenge the perception of the Catholic Church. The designs ask the question… Are we meant to forget the unforgivable acts of the church in the past?
